"Thom the Astrology Guru" (The Sovereign Mirror)

Broadcaster, Author, Educator, and Initiatory Astrologer

Thom—widely recognized as "Thom the Astrology Guru" and operating through his expanded platform, The Sovereign Mirror—is an astrologer, author, and media veteran with over 30 years of experience interpreting star maps and planetary transits. Early in his journey, Thom was deeply influenced by his mentorship and friendship with the late Guy Spiro, a pillar of the Midwest metaphysical community who founded The Monthly Aspectarian in 1979—a landmark publication that served as the backbone of Chicago's conscious media for decades.

Moving far past standard, 20th-century sun sign horoscopes, Thom’s modern practice centers on personal "Initiation" and identity reclamation. He works with individuals navigating major life transitions, identity shifts, and personal "Void Spaces," offering guidance grounded in decades of broadcasting, mentorship, and deep study.

Lineage & Mentorship

• Guy Spiro & The Monthly Aspectarian: Early in his practice, Thom mentored with and befriended Guy Spiro, one of Chicago's most prominent astrologers, author of Astro-Weather, and founder/publisher of The Monthly Aspectarian (established in 1979). Studying under Spiro deeply shaped Thom’s foundational understanding of planetary transit analysis, cycle forecasting, and how to communicate complex astrological mechanics in an accessible, empowering way.

Radio, Broadcasting & Media Career

Chicago Airwaves (WLS & Beyond): Thom built a strong foundation in commercial broadcasting early on, including work associated with Chicago radio powerhouses like WLS—a legendary, high-power station whose signal airs to tens of thousands of locations throughout the United States.

• Jenn Weigel Collaborations: His deep roots in the Chicago broadcast world led to recurring guest appearances on platforms like The Jenn Weigel Show, where he discussed planetary alignments, spiritual awakening, and soul-level life transitions for broad Midwest audiences.

• Maui's "Psychic Sundays": After relocating to Hawaii, Thom hosted "Psychic Sundays" on Maui's community radio station, 88.5 FM KAKU. In addition to local broadcasts, the show streamed live on the web at KAKUradio.org, reaching listeners and caller communities live throughout the entire world. It served as a Sunday morning hub where he took live questions and featured guest intuitives and holistic practitioners.

Community Education, Talks & Consultations

• Temple of Peace Maui: During his time in Hawaii, Thom collaborated closely with the Temple of Peace Maui, delivering inspirational talks and providing countless astrological consultations to visitors and seekers arriving from throughout the world.

• SoderWorld Collaboration: Thom worked directly with SoderWorld Wellness Center in Willowbrook, Illinois, where he gave personal consultations, hosted numerous talks, and led transformative workshops for the Midwest holistic community.

• UH Maui College Educator: Beyond the airwaves, Thom brought practical chart reading to the local Hawaiian community by teaching astrology courses through programs like EdVenture at the University of Hawaii Maui College.

• Published Author: In November 2015, he published his foundational book, Know Astrology... Know Yourself!, framing the natal chart not as a fortune-telling gimmick, but as an intuitive mirror for personal self-awareness and consciousness.

Cycle Forecasting & Industry Recognition

• 2020 Forecasting in 2009: Thom launched his long-running podcast, Astrology, back in August 2009. In early episodes, he analyzed outer planet cycles decades in advance—notably highlighting the rare Saturn-Pluto Capricorn conjunctions of early 2020 as a major turning point for global structures, long before those events unfolded.

• Peer Praise: His blend of technical chart mechanics and intuitive delivery earned him praise across the wellness space. Notable figures such as Eric Soderholm (former Chicago White Sox player and co-founder of SoderWorld) famously referred to Thom as the best astrologer he had ever met.

Modern Platform & Private Practice

Today, through his online sanctuary at knowastrology.org and his podcast Astrology, Thom focuses on helping clients reclaim sovereignty over their lives through two signature experiences:
